Mecano ID inaugurates its new premises and signs two major contracts
The Toulouse-based SME Mecano ID has doubled the surface of its buildings to acquire new means of production to tackle the rise of New Space. The company is the prime contractor for the payload of the new generation of Argos beacons and also works for the Cnes on the nanosatellite Angels.
Founded in 1994, the Toulouse-based company Mecano ID has since grown. “We have hired 25 people in two years and our workforce is now 75 employees for a turnover of 9 million euros,” said Didier Mesnier, CEO of Mecano ID. To achieve this performance, the space-based SME has three strategic activities: mechanical systems engineering, high performance composite parts manufacturing and mechanical and thermal environment tests. Services that the company carries out for the major contractors in the sector (Airbus, Cnes, etc.).

In full growth, Mecano ID has decided to push the walls in 2018.
“We have invested 4 million euros to double the surface area of our buildings, now increased to 3,000 m2, with the aim of giving us new means of production and testing”.
The company has acquired two new thermal vacuum tanks (to recreate the space vacuum during testing) that will arrive in the plant in May and a lay-up robot to automatically stack fibers.
